Daniel, a dear friend since grade school, photographing howler monkeys on our most recent trip to the Amazon.

Merlin, our highly-skilled mountaineering guide, giving us some encouragement up the walls of Aguja Guillamet in Patagonia, Argentina.

"Happy Eskimo"
-is the actual name painted on the side of my friend Lonny’s boat. A native Eskimo, Lonny tells the story of a man approaching him on the docks, asking “Woah, are you allowed to put that on there?” He replied, “Do I look happy to you?” Prince William Sound, Alaska.

On the Job
MK’s keen eyes scan the road ahead. A skilled tracker, (read in my blog), he could track animals even while driving at speed in our Land Rover. Kazuma Pan National Park, Zimbabwe.

Helpful Eye
Forest Ranger pointing out wildlife several hundred yards away. After 5 minutes of trying I still had no idea what he was looking at.

Conservation Conversation
Here MK discusses the impact tourists have on termite mounds when they tear them apart to get a glimpse of life on the inside. A naturalist at heart, MK cares deeply for his environment and loved teaching me about all the plants and animals while I was there. Matetsi National Park, Zimbabwe.

Fastest Butcher on the Block
Lonny makes quick work of this salmon, about 20 seconds to gut, decapitate, and carve the fillet, making fools of every other fisherman at the cleaning station. Port Valdez, Alaska.
